Nearly 95 Percent of Havenpark Residents Own Their Homes, Far Above the National Rate

While the national homeownership rate is 65.3 percent in the first quarter of 2026, nearly 95 percent of Havenpark resident households own their homes, underscoring the company’s commitment to making quality homeownership opportunities available to families, retirees, and first-time buyers at its communities across the country.

National Homeownership Month comes as many Americans continue to face significant barriers to buying a home. According to the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, home prices have increased 54 percent nationwide since 2020, and the median existing single-family sales price in 2025 was nearly five times the median household income. The National Association of REALTORS also reported that first-time buyers fell to a historic low of 21 percent of all home buyers, down by roughly half since 2007, with the median age of a first-time buyer rising to an all-time high of 40. 

Manufactured housing is increasingly recognized as an important part of the nation’s housing affordability solution. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has described manufactured housing as one of the country’s most affordable non-subsidized housing options, representing 10 percent of new single-family home starts and housing 22 million people in the United States. Research from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies has also found that manufactured homes offer significant cost advantages over comparable site-built homes, helping create more attainable entry points into homeownership while providing families an opportunity to build equity over time. 

Beyond making homeownership more attainable, manufactured housing also offers families the opportunity to build long-term financial security. Contrary to the common misconception that manufactured homes lose value over time as cars do, research by the Urban Institute shows that manufactured homes have appreciated in value at nearly identical rates to site-built homes since 2000 and have outpaced site-built home appreciation in most quarters since 2014. Homes in Havenpark communities regularly resell for more than their original purchase price, demonstrating the lasting value that attainable homeownership can provide.
